Panther R.O.A.R. Foundation

Scholarship Objectives

The Panther R.O.A.R. Foundation is dedicated to empowering the next generation of River Rouge High School graduates by providing financial assistance to deserving seniors. Our scholarship program is designed to:

• Support high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, community service, and financial need.​

• Encourage a culture of giving back to the school and community, fostering opportunities for students to pursue post-secondary education.

 

Purpose

The Panther R.O.A.R. Foundation offers three scholarships that recognize and support outstanding high school seniors graduating in 2025 who have exhibited exceptional academic achievements and leadership potential. Awarded annually, these scholarships aim to ease the financial burden of higher education while inspiring students to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Panther ROAR Academic Excellence Scholarship

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a high school senior graduating with the class of 2025.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., holding a position in student council, leading a school club, or participating in community initiatives).

  • Submit a 250-500 word essay on the topic: “How I Plan to Use My Education to Make a Positive Impact on My Community.

  • Students must have 1 teacher, 1 counselor or 1 community leader successfully complete and submit a recommendation rating form on their behalf.

Award Amount:

  • $500 (non-renewable)

Panther ROAR Overcomer Scholarship

 

​Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a high school senior graduating with the class of 2025.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Submit a 250-500 word essay on the topic: Describe a time when you made a positive impact through community service or leadership, either within your school or local community. How did this experience contribute to your personal growth, and what challenges did you face along the way?

  • Students must have 1 teacher, 1 counselor or 1 community leader successfully complete and submit a recommendation rating form on their behalf.

Award Amount:

  • $500 (non-renewable)​

Panther ROAR Healthcare Visionary Scholarship (Sponsored by Director I. Reynolds)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a high school senior graduating with the class of 2025.

  • Intend to pursue a degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., nursing, medicine, public health, physical therapy, healthcare administration, etc.).

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Submit a 250-500 word essay on the topic: “How My Culture and Background Will Shape My Impact in the Healthcare Field.”

  • Scholars must have 1 teacher or 1 counselor successfully complete and submit a recommendation rating form on their behalf.

Award Amount:

  • $500 (non-renewable)

All scholarships will require applicants to submit their application through the Panther Roar Foundation’s website by Monday, March 31, 2025.

Finalists will be announced on Thursday, May 1, and recipients will be recognized at the River Rouge High School Senior Honors Assembly (May 15) by Scholarship Chair Laura Saaverda, Board Co-Director Isharon Reynolds and other board member attendees.
